3800 miles on them. A bit of residue from anti seize when the were installed in 2023.

based on your driving style and everything else, moving to a hotter heat range of plug would probably help clean them up while putzing around

yes, carbon can build up on the plugs and chamber that isnt yet solidified into hard to remove coke (carbon) , this helps get the RPM and temperature up to blast it off

If you drive very slowly and gently in the city for years, taking a modern vehicle with a sport mode on it for example and doing this will give you a plume of black smoke out of the tailpipe

We always called it "blowing out the cobwebs". Using tranny fluid down the carb was more fun, my parents would come unglued when I did it in the garage or driveway, hehe.

I have some dexron 3 and marvel mystery oil. Maybe dump some directly down the carb when engine running?

Either one or water, you trickle it in while keeping it idled enough TO NOT DIE!!!!!! We used to drill 1/4" holes in a pop bottle cap, pour water in and recap it to use water also. Just DO NOT let engine die because of your fluid inputs. The tranny fluid method will be a hoot, mark my words, gets rid of flying bugs and pisses the neighbors off.

Years back Moroso or similar company used to make water injection units for carbed vehicles to do this very same thing.

You can also add MMO to your gas to act as an upper cylinder lubricant on engines without hardened valve seats.

short spark plugs are going to be a different by virtue of the fact the overall length modifies things. whats your engine, is it stock, and year, model, and 2wd or 4wd
Ill find the original plug number, which can be easily drifted from up or down based on the AC Delco plug syntax lets you easily find the next range

also that trans fluid as a fogger

It’s a 1985 model C25. Original engine but with emissions systems removed and aftermarket intake and carb + headers.

These are assuming your intake and emissions are in place. i dont know what direction the heat range change is (43 vs 44) and what if any your top end changes would make.

What you mean? Should be more clearance with shorter plugs.

Having headers almost always requires the shorter plugs or beat the tubes senseless trying to accommodate the regular plug.

Ah, I misread what you wrote. Yes, they can be a pain but I think I have solved most of the problems now with some banging on the tubes a couple of places and using locking bolts on them. The normal bolts came loose all the time and blew the gasket. Just need some better clearance now, but still using the protective «socks» on the plug.
