I was caught skimming again up there. I was pretty sure USShift was someone else before, and I was thinking it was Optishift. It is Optishift, and Jason was even pointing that out all along.

I did go look at their site a bit just now, and they do say they've dropped the price to the controller to $425 and a Harness as low as $140. It is the 4L60-E/4L80-E Harness that is $140.
Looks like you'll need the USQ1 and the HPG1 Harness.

I think you'll be very pleased with it from the reading I just did look at the site a little bit. You might want to familiarize yourself with some of this info.

And they suggest you look over the tuning software and the manual before you choose to buy too.

I thought long and hard over this conversion or the stick shift, but with the towing I decided the 5 speed was my safest bet for the money.

As for the Speedo, you'll probably want to go with a later model speedo. It'ii still fit in your cluster,. Just swap out to an electronic DRAC unit from a, I think it's a 90 or 91. Have to get with Retro on that one to be sure.

The speedo won't fit in the cluster as is, but the cluster will fit and work with wiring the speedo and repinning the connector. The DRAC module can come from most any truck including an S10 as it can be modified to correct the speedo.

Aftermarket gauges are another (expensive) option

Trans shop called back. Has an early 90's core that he will price larts for and get me a rebuild price tomorrow morning. Also found this

http://www.abbott-tach.com/cablex.htm

I've been going back and forth about buying one of those for years, since I put the 6 speed in my Camaro and lost my speedo cable drive. I've read that people don't like them for one reason or another. If I start driving the car again, maybe I'll try it. If you try it, be sure to let us know how you like it!

That's right, the DRAC supported unit is pretty big so the whole cluster is modified for it. But, he can probably handle that since they did his dad's truck with an update very similar.

Seems to me there was also an option to keep the same speed too. What am I thinking of there???

Do what now? The DRAC is mounted on the ECM box.

Sorry, DRAC Unit, as in the Speedo that's DRAC supported. It's bigger and needs a bigger cut out to fit in the cluster housing. I'll go edit.

I emailed the Company about the speedo box and got a reply in 5 minutes. The price is 339. You have to set it up and do some calculating.

But hell. The controller for the 4L80e says it has a digital readout of the speed so I may go with just that for the time being.
