Hello, I found an engine for sale and its a 350, the story goes the guys daughter ran it without oil completely dry and obviously its dead seized but its also only 40 bucks so can I rebuild it? If not I'll have something to take apart and put back together. Thanks guys!

It is well worth the 40 bucks, even as a core.
Depending on where the piston size now is, might make a good engine by buying a complete engine kit, crank and all. Build it to Your specs.

Yes, it can rebuilt. For $40. I'd jump all over it if it's really a 350 and it's just seized and not a rod through the block. So find that out.

Maybe, seen quite a few that seized up and destroyed a main saddle, it's a gamble don't know until you tear it down.
I could see how that's possible. I've never seen it though. Good reason to always check the line bore.

Yep, depends on how long it ran when the crank grabbed a bearing, it can be nasty..

I generally use the rule of thumb if the main saddle is blue it's junk.

I know @Iowan is a young man just getting started in the world of trucks. I would like to provide a little lesson I learned when I was younger. When I was starting out I had all sorts of ideas that appealed to me. I wanted to put a V8 in place of the I6 in my Dart. With the help of some great guys that pointed me towards the parts I needed (no internet back then), I was really close to making the swap. I had already swapped the rear axle and converted to a 4spd manual. I had an almost complete 318 minus a carb and dizzy. Someone had told me the motor may need to be rebuilt so I took it apart and started thinking about a rebuild. Long story short, I didn't have the funds to do a rebuild at the time and after a few bad deals with other parts where my youth and inexperience was used against me I didn't even have the cash to get back to where I was before.
The moral of the story and what I should have done was be sure to spend my money wiser and be sure I was getting somthing that was worth what it cost and also useful for the project.
If I were @Iowan I would keep my money and look for a 350 you can hear run and that has good compression. Buy it and drop it in. Use your $25 or $40 bucks towards hoses and other incidentals that go along with an engine swap.

Besides, you can always pull and rebuild it later.
