Being that the speed limit is 55 and I drive 60 I would say I'm light footed even on stop and Gill be at 40 about 3/4 the way till the next light
It does sound like you got a good trans now. Though it's still a 700r4. I'd keep doing what you're doing. Everyone needs transportation, so keep going easy on that one at least until you get your other rebuilt and a converter in hand. Then if you want to experiment with some abuse go for it. But even then, I think I'd still take it easy on that one, do your swap to your rebuilt unit and know that you have a faithful good working back up in the event you goofed something up or something goes wrong shortly down the road. Try to keep your back up trans stored in doors and with fluid in it. That can help keep the seals from drying out.
I can't wait to get some cash and get one of mine hung with clutch pedals for the NP A833. Cuz I'm gonna have my truck set up like I did my 64 GMC. I can swap from a Manual Trans back to 700r4, or Th350 in a matter of a couple to few hours, or even go back to a Manual A833 or SM465 in a matter of a few short hours and not have to dick with an driveshaft cutting exhaust mods or nothing. You'd think it's tough to do, especially in a 4x4 where you have 2 driveshafts and a transfer case. Hell Yes it can be done. It's called GM interchangeability.
To the best of what I can tell in research, The SM465 tailshaft adapter makes the SM465 the same length and same location of the NP208, so the crossmembers and driveshafts all interchange. And then the 700r4/NP208 is the same length as the A833/NP208 also. So now that I've currently got my Th350 modified to the same length of the 700r4, I'll be able to run the manuals, SM465 and A833 OD NP208, and the 700r4 and Th 350 NP208 all wo driveshaft, crossmember, mounts and exhaust routing mods.
Going to get a manual floor shift trans steer column, the manuals will have their own shifters on the floor, and I'll get a B&M QuickSilver ratchet shifter that will work for both 3 speed and 4 speed Auto's. So the swap will be nothing but bolting in the components, swapping to the right shifter, keeping the small brake pedal all the time, keep an Auto Trans Radiator in the truck for cooling lines. The tough part about that is, having to keep 2 different Tcases too. The Automatics will run the 27 spline input Tcase, and the Manuals will run the 32 spline input on the Tcase. The same clutch and Bell Housing will also work for both SM465 and A833. Is that not some cool **** or what? Have 4 transmission options and nothing to do but bolt it in without mods.
