I doubt it'll qualify for the deal of the century but if it's a runner you should still be in good shape. Hope everything goes smoothly for the swap. :grd:

I always wonder to myself if I should upgrade to a fuel injected engine soon or ride things out until the 350 I have finally gives up the ghost. Then someone posts an engine bay pic showing all the wiring involved for the computer controls and I realize why I'm content with what I currently have.

why not just unbolt the manifolds that are on your current motor and slide the motor in without the manifolds and slight the "new" motor in and just bolt up the original manifolds? Are they really fubared or something? I don't remember....
I am worried about the studs holding the y-pipe on. WIll they move enough out of the way to pull the motor out? I never thought of that. I just don't want to wind up with a problem at the y-pipe connection on these things. Thoughts anyone? Plus arent they a bitch to put on, like they need to be stretched or some ****?

I've seen it done but can't give you any first hand experience as to the degree of difficulty but seems logical to me that it'd work. I've never heard of them needing to be "stretched", though.

Usually the studs at the donut gasket have springs on them and allow the manifolds to move out of the way an inch or so. It can be done!!

Don't let that wiring intimidate you. If have the harness, you just lay it out and start plugging stuff in. All the plugs are propietary, so its really hard to goof it up. Sure its a little work but not as complicated as it looks.

Yes they do need to be stretched but you can get them on without stretching...what we did when rebuilding my buddies TBI. Will be very dificult in the truck to do the way we did without cross threading a bolt/stud. Although I believe the stretching mechanism (never saw one cuz we figured it out) works while in the vehicle. I highly doubt you have to pull a motor to replace exhaust manifolds.

the blazer motor didn't have the oil diverter thing because it wasn't 4x4, only the 4x4's had it. it was because of the front driveshaft being on that side.

honestly the front acces. and the manifolds could be swapped from yours very quick and easy, the manifolds being the hardest.

The blazer one aint gonna line up with your exahust so you're gonna have to change them regardless or run exhaust different, or buy some shorties maybe.

honestly I'd ditch the manifolds and run headers. I got mine for my 88 for $122 shipped and they are stainless, so no rust, ball end so no donut gaskets, and thick flange up top so no warping.

In my dreams it is. :slap:

I got to start ordering some parts so I can kick this project in the ass. Need exhaust manifold gaskets, oil and filter, and antifreeze first off...

Just put a collector at the end of your exhaust pipe and collect the antifreeze your current motor doesn't want and you should be good to go :happy175:
