I didn't find it on CL but I think I found a donor motor for my truck at this place:

http://www.partsbyconnors.com/index.html

I got a neighbor who works with these guys and he told me to give them a call. They had a good running 5.7 TBI just pulled out of an 87 K5. I am waiting for a call back on it. $450. And it's 2 miles from me. :High 5:
I orginally posted this in the CL thread this morning. This thread is the beginning of a happy time for me!!! I scored on a good running used '87 TBI 5.7 motor out of a K5 with a bad trans. It was pulled yesterday and they are holding it for me. I called today just before they closed and the fella James that works there went the extra mile to get me setup. Originally he said that the motor was pulled and the accesories were taken off. He said $450 for the motor. I asked about getting the accesories with it and he had to spend some time to find everything and he's got it all and I will pay $550 for the whole deal. Dude really went out of his way for me. I will be putting a deposit on it Monday morning and hopefully see it and get a pic. Then I will pick it up next Saturday. I am so freakin fired up right now, lol!!!! :High 5:

My antifreeze burning nightmare is almost over!!!! :flipthebird:

How many miles are on it?

I'm surprised you had such trouble finding one. Around here, you can't hardly walk around without tripping over one. I have 3 of them, and only one of those was a planned purchase.

Awesome! I'm glad to hear you finally found a decent engine to tide you over. Are you still planning on rebuilding your engine while you have it out and eventually swapping it back in?

Woot! Let me know when you are gonna get going on the tear-down, I may be able to come help ya. I'm officialy casting my ballot for a 383 stroker build on the old engine, since I'm spending Burbs money LOL.

Congrats Brah !!! :High 5: So obvioulsy then they charged you another $100 for all the accesories and bracketry??? I'd have negoitiated a bit and said, OK, cool, I'll pay that extra $100 for accessories if you throw in the bad trans core. They are out to sell good used parts, and may not have cared about the trans. Never know though. Many times a trans rebuilder will buy all their trans cores for $25 each or sometimes even more. Always worth a try bubba, then you'd had a 700r4 K case to autopsy affter you got done playing with your motor. Best of Luck with all of that.

Buy a numbered punch set before you start, so you can mark 1, 2, 3 etc on your rods, rod caps, main caps and on the block beside the main caps so you can put them back in order. VERY important to do that.

Congrats on the score bubba!! :waytogo:

You know I am a pic *****, lol. I am putting the down payment down tomorrow morning. They might not let me take pics, I iwll have to see. But next weekend you will definately start seeing some engine porn. I am shooting for a Memorial Day weekend install if I get everything ready by then. I already starting my homework. Soaking the exhaust manifols studs and other fasteners. I see the oil coler lines are bolted to the engine side of the motor mount, got to get that unbolted. Take off the motor braces on the bottom, maybe even the converter cover too. Try and do some stupid stuff ahead of time to make the install go a little easier.

I am really stoked to tear the original motor and post every step here and share ideas with you guys, and have your help with it, it will be a great time. I like you idea C4 about the stamps.
