I have an 87 K5 the wiring under the dash and under the hood are jacked. There a melted spot on the fuse box where the turn signal fuse goes and a previous owner installed an alarm system and remote start that i think they tried to do on there own and didnt have a clue what they were doing. So Im planning on rewiring the entire truck. My question is who has done this before and what harness did you use like a painless or one from LMC ect? How big of a pain was it?

Have not put the Painless in yet and just started on the the Speedway. The Painless will fit in the stock location and not require any mods.

The Speedway requires you to mod or fill the firewall opening. Watch all of those videos. The guy shows you how he modified the firewall to accommodate the Speedway. Also download the manual for wiring harness and read thru them.

Both kits are well marked and once you get the fusebox mounted it's just a matter of routing the wires and connecting the components.

I used a Keep it Clean in my truck. Seemed to be a pretty good harness. You do have to modify the opening.
