Wing window in the frame using glass weld

I’ve been struggling with this wing window most of the week on a project and first I was sent the wrong frame, then the first glass setting rubber stuff was too thick, then too thin. Tonight I got the idea to use some “glass weld” stuff for installing windshields. I guess we will see how it goes.


Step 1- tape up to make cleanup easier

Step 2- run a blade around to make a line in the tape. Leaving tape on the window and the frame.

Step 3- make a mess! Wear gloves

Step 4- pull tape and do a little cleanup.

Used Glass weld by Permatex as it was on the shelf local. It did cost more than the glass and frame though I think.

Just an update on this. It works very well. The downside I can see with it is you will probably need a new frame if the window gets broken but that’s ok. I’ll probably go to this method on future wing rebuilds though.
