Door panels may be a little different, and the dash pad is made a little different but attaches the same. Otherwise everything should be really similar. You may run into some wiring issues if you use the 83 instrument cluster with the 79 harness. May have to move some of the wires around in the connector.

Man I dont envy you. I can do wiring but I dont like messing with it. About like doing house plumbing.

Yikes. You have more patience than I do. If it was down to something like that for me, I would just get a new wiring harness. Lol. I actually enjoy a little electrical work, but not that much.

As far as the interior goes, C4 pretty much summed it up. I'm not sure the door panels will interchange though. Someone else on here will know for sure.

The door panels will work, but you have to use the matching handles and support brackets for the armrests.

I also think the window regualtors are different, and to be right they need to match the door panels. Reason? the arm is longer on the newer trucks. They sold us an older shorter stub reg. for our 84 and it works but the door panel is sunk in around it. I forget when the changeover year was. it could be 73-76 or so for the short one and then 77 or 78-87 on the long stud.

I would use the 4x4 cluster, I think it may work not real sure I never messed with them much. of course you know about the trans hump/tunnel being different right? that's pretty easy though.

yes 2wd has a low hump floor and 4x4 has a high hump.

now if the 2wd is floor standard shift then it should be high hump and work fine.

pretty sure it's like this...

all 4x4's and then 2wd floor shift manuals=high hump

all 2wd autos and column shift manuals=low hump

It may be all manaul shifts have high hump, not really sure anymore. LMC has it listed though for buying carpet.

Check the cluster before you change it. My C10 2WD cluster has a 4x4 light in it (found it when trying to figure out which light was the choke light by shining a flashlight through the bulb holes).
