Will 35s fit on a 4in lift without rubbing?

I ordered a 4in EZ ride lift from Tuff Country for my 1987 half ton pickup. If anyone else has this lift, I would like to know their experience with it. Can you run 35s without rubbing? How wide?

Welcome! And yes they'll "fit" without rubbing or trimming for normal driving, depending on the tire width and wheel offset/back-spacing. But will rub in situations where you're flexing the suspension alot while turning. IE not enough lift for a wheeler on 35s, IMO.
Here's a 3/4ton 4" lift with 315-75-16s (IE not quite 35-12.50s). It never rubbed in normal driving, turning lock to lock, but there was evidence of it rubbing the bottom rear fender lip in the past.

I'm running the 4" EZ's and same size tires as GD on 16x8 rims, only difference is I have the DeeZee running boards. They rubbed quite a bit on the front mud flaps until I trimmed the running boards enough to pull the flaps back in line with the wheel well. In normal driving they never touch, but there is this one angled ditch crossing in the back country that gets things twisted up enough to rub. Makes a little noise when it happens but doesn't stop me from getting through.

Wheel width is the big one. 10" wide wheels will very likely have the tires rubbing the fenders in normal driving like simply entering and exiting parking lots. 8" wide should work ok on the street like the others have said, with the common ~4" backspacing.

I have a question, as I'll be getting 10" wide wheels (or 9" or 11") depending what wheel I go with. With 35-12.50s, 315-70-17s or 315-75-16s.
Keeping about the same 0 offset, IE 4.5" BS on a 9" wheel or 5" BS on a 10" wide wheel, it seems they'd fit the "same."
Honestly I haven't checked how close the tires now are to rubbing other than I know they get close on the back outside of the wheel well. I can see if there was a little more negative offset, like a 10 wide with a 4" bs that would have less clearance on the outside, and stick out further.
Is that what you were referring to?

I've actually not really thought about 17's, so I could be off. But with 16's, 9" wide doesn't seem to be very common, usually jumps from 8" to 10" in most cases? And most 10" wide 16's have around 4" backspacing normally? Things may be a bit different now, but that's how it seemed to work with most aftermarket truck rims in the past.

For sure, if you keep the same BS with a wider wheel, it’ll stick out further and cause issues if clearance is tight on the outside.
Thanks for confirming what I was thinking. And no, 9” wide isn’t common, but I’m considering Detroit steelies which are offered in 9” and 11” wide. Also with about any Backspacing that you want.
Been against 17s for a while because you can’t get greater than 121 load range anymore with 17s, but won’t matter for this truck and there’s a cool set of 8 lug slots in 17”. And correct, most wheels are 8-10-12” widths.

17" 8-lug slots you say? I want the very same thing for my Suburban. Iirc, I was looking at the ones offered by US Mags and they were actually 9" wide now that I think about it.

Those are the ones I'm thinking of. Don't recall width, but 9 is fine, lol.
