Hate to break it to you but - once aluminum is oxidized its all over. There is nothing you can do to restore it to anywhere near it's original finish.

Are you talking about the brushed aluminum cab trim pieces? I can't think of any cast aluminum on a stock 86 Chevy/GMC full size truck.

It would be better to just replace it. Classic truck parts sells it in rolls.

The trim around the sides is a rubber/plastic, with a very thin layer of chrome on it, and a layer of clear plastic over top of that. Once the finish starts to look bad, you just have to replace it.

The panel on the tailgate is anodized. The coating would have to be stripped off and then re-anodized, or just clear-coated. I've seen where oven cleaner will remove the anodized finish.
