If it's vortec it should have a roller cam When he said Vortec I assumed roller cam. If it is Vortec it should have a plastic timing cover,or a factory cover with 2 bolts missing. Also if it's Vortec he will need to provide a bypass or drill the Thermostat. As to drilling for a fuel pump. You probably aren't going to do it at home. You will need to buy a fairly expensive jig to do it. Ask the machine shop about having them do it. I'd just go electric pump. I'd run a bypass,or return style regulator at the factory pump location,so you can reuse the factory lines and keep your electric pump happy.
