Like the title says, I'm looking at doing a gen III 5.3 swap after I do my 4x4 conversion. I've searched all over but cant seem to find anything about what t-case to go with. The truck will be more of a daily with hunting and camping trips included so i dont need some crazy double t-case locker setup. Just wondering what my options are and possibly what the best/easiest option is.

easiest would be to use a NP241C from a 90-91 Blazer/ Suburban. They will bolt right up to the 60E, and they have the VSS for the speedometer.

You can use anything you want but it will cost more to get the VSS working in it. I am running a NP241C in my 85 1 ton vortec conversion and have no complaints, I use it for work, I hardly ever "play" cause it cost to much to fix **** anymore.

Thats exactly the answer i was looking for, thanks. Didn't they change the 4l60e for the gen III blocks though? Or does it even matter on the t-case side?

It didn't matter at the rear. The newer models do use a 6-bolt rear flange, so you have to use the t-case adapter that comes with the newer models. Then just bolt a passenger's drop np241 right up to it.

np241C xfer case already has the 6 bolt adapter to mount behind the ls tranny.

ummm???? If your trying to say you do NOT need an adapter to bolt the transfercase to the 2 piece case 4l60E then you would be wrong. There are actually 2 different adapters for the 2 piece case 60E's. Cant remember what the year breaks where though.
