Wow. I'm sorry about your friend's grandfather. He seems like a really good guy.

But one small blessing is that he's finding these things a home. Not just for decent compensation to make sure the value is not lost to his family. Not just for death-cleaning to spare his offspring from throwing out all his stuff,... but for sparing all of the people who appreciate this stuff from having all his stuff thrown out.

I hope all his great stuff finds a loving home. And that, in whatever way, his family gets the best they can from it.

Absolutely. That's all we can hope for when we go, the stuff we cared about gets cared about by someone else. We'll see what else I get offered, I'll certainly buy some stuff as well so I can both help him know it'll be cared for and also help out his wife.

I've been watching this gearwrench 209 piece socket set for a long time and they dropped it to $425 for a day, so I ordered it. Now all of my miscellaneous socket sets can come home with me and these will be my new work sockets

The price changes wildly on it for some reason, when I first found it they had it listed at 600 and it randomly went on sale for 499 and I slowly went up after that. I set a notification for if it dropped under 500. They had 2 left when I ordered it at 425.

If it was SnapOn, you could put a zero behind that number.
Not as a disparagement of the quality of SnapOn, just a comment on how much their stuff costs. They must all eat steak and lobster at every meal...

Recently scored a transmission flushing machine and a stand up computer stand. I am not sure how the computer stand will work in a garage while working on cars but figured I would try for $30. Trying to read diagnostic information, schematics, etc is sometimes awkward . I normally use my 14"iPad Pro but always looking for something better.

There was a flea market at one of the RV parks here on Sunday as the last of the sno-birds were all leaving. Got me a couple 3/8 ratchets, a small Vise Grip, and a Snap On distributor wrench. $50 for the bunch

Got this vintage Sears Penske made in USA (1970s) exhaust gas analyzer. Seems to have never been used, still in box with manual. Popped in 3 C cell batteries and it came to life.

Should be fun to use to tune carbs.

Bought an ancient Atlas tire machine from my bosses dad. And for my $150 purchase I got a little 1970 poulan chainsaw, 1/2 ton chain hoist, and a 2wd SM465.
