Ignition switch? Mine was havin intermittent no spark problems but I have a toggle for the ignition. I guess it would be the same tho...... If you replaced everything else I dont see what the problem could be. Pickup maybe?

Just got it running again. But yea i had power it, i tightend the connections to the cap. I broke it all down again. started from the bottom on up, contact cleaner and air and a little emery cloth, the only thing i can see or think is thos dog ears that must spin outward with rpm get stuck or something cus thos were the only things that felt/look some wat rough and stiff, so cleaned and even put a little dialectric greass on them as like a lub. then put it all back together and boom instant fire just like last time i had problems.... just so frustrating cus now i can't trust it go go anyware.

I'd invest in a new distributer. There only around a $100 new. I'm going to bet the pickup coil is going bad at the top of your. Plus if you put a new distributer in yours it should have new advance wieghts on the top that will help your fuel milage.

Yeah, those dog ears are the advance. That wouldnt cause a no spark issue tho. If everything is new besides the pickup that has to be it. Ive seen a PCM do this but it usually just goes out and aint intermittent.

yea, stock 79 dizzy. But ok drove the piss out of it tonight. That has to be the problem, or atleast let me ask if the pickup coil is going out will it cause an intermitiant missfire at idel and once and awhile kill the engine for a sec or two while driving?

I wouldnfab up a wire that you can hook to your battery, and run power directly to where the pink power wire plugs in to your distributor, then drive it, and see if it cuts out...if it doesn't, you should look at your ignition switch. Note: the truck will not shut off with the key if you do this, you must disconnect the wire from the battery.
Did you use AC Delco parts on your ditributor tune up, or aftermarket?

Yes it can. I agree tho, run wire from battery straight to hot lead on dizzy. I replaced ign module and pickup on my dizzy to find out it was my ignition switch the whole time. It would miss at idle and cut out while drivin. Did it more after it warmed up.
