Truck runs sometimes then shuts off with no spark

I have a 87 chevy with the 305 tbi and I replaced the ignition coil and module I'm afraid to drive it it starts right up runs good then it shuts off has no spark go back at it hours later starts right up and runs like a champ with out doing anything what could be the problem

Is it giving you any codes whenever it shuts off? Have you timed it recently?

May be the pickup coil. Do you get injector pulses when cranking?

I personally would just buy a new distributor, then keep your new module you just bought as a spare. It will be handy to have around eventually.
