New member here. I'm in a little bit of a pickle on deciding what to do. I have a 1980 Scottsdale 3/4 ton and want to make it a manual again( originally it was a manual) clutch pedal is still there) now it has T350 with a 205 ( original T-case). Was wondering if the sm465 that I have would bolt to it, 10 spline output shaft. I do have a nv-4500 laying around with clutch, flywheel, bell housing etc.. But that is out of a 98 Chevy and it has the internal slave cylinder which I'm not to familiar with. Just seeing what my options are.

The 205 that you have bolted to that th350 is not the same one that was used behind your old sm465.

You will need to find the right transfer case or swap out input gears on the one you have which is what maybe was done in the first place.

What adapter is being used to mate the th350 to that 205?

The 98 Transfer case isn't going to work because it's a Left Hand drop and squares have the drop on the right side for the front differential.

And NO, that's NOT the original Tcase for sure unless swapped the input gear. Early SM465's used the 10 spline output shafts, the later ones used the 32 spline output shaft which is the same as a Th400. Th350 are 27 spline outputs.

One thing that is true for certain, it did originally come with an NP205. All 80 4x4 trucks got the NP205 no matter what engine, no matter which transmission. All of them got the NP205.

My bad, re read your post. I see now it's just the NV4500 out of the 98 not a transfer case too. Your truck would currently be set up with manual clutch Z bar linkage pedal. To use the NV4500 once you got all the issues with the Tcase and driveshafts resolved, then you'd need to swap your clutch pedal to the Hydraulic type. IIRC, it's 83 and later trucks have the hydro pedal, and you'll have to drill a hole in the firewall for the master clutch cylinder that will run a line down to the internal slave. So the NV4500 is a 4x4 unit though?

I honestly cant remember, been so long since I had it apart. But I also have a 32 spline long shaft bolted to a 208 in my plow truck that I might take instead. I just have all these trannys and I wanted to put them to use. I'm pretty sure the one with the t350 had a female adapter inside that housing

Yes HotRodPC the nv4500 is a 4x4 unit with out transfer case. I have all parts I need on my plow truck with is an 83 1/2 ton as far as clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. Since the 80 has the mechanical clutch pedal I'm assuming i would have to take pedels out of other truck too?

Another thing is I'm not to familiar with all the different adapters so if I could get info on all that stuff, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

an nv4500 will bolt right up to a np208 transfercase, if that's and option you want to go

Didn't Dodge use a np241 t-case with a passenger side drop, or did they switch to the drivers side too?

That would be the transfer case set up I have now, and that is the 10 spline 465, pretty sure I would just have to get that 8 pattern adapter right? I mean either way I still have options. Like my plow truck has a 465 bolted to a 208 and I do have the 4500 with low miles lol. The 80 Scottsdale has been sitting for about 3 years and I figured its time to get her going again. I have a healthy 355, 14 bolt full floater 3.73's 3/4 ton. I will post a pic of her. It needs some body work but the under side is clean.didn't see a winter for 25 years until i drove it last, 3 years ago

Yes they had both pass and driver side drops but I couldn't tell you the years.

install the nv4500 in the truck then find a np208 from a 81-87 k10/k5/burban and there ya go?
