I'm not shocked that you overheated 2aH batteries on a sawzall ... shouldn't use any smaller than a 4aH battery with a sawzall ... or circular saw ... or grinder ...

Going forward, I’ll be buying kobalt. They have the cheapest batteries, and I have two 4aH batteries already plus a 2aH giving me the most battery power for kobalt. I have sold the dewalt spotlight and sawzall and will be replacing them with blue equivalents. After much thought this seems to be the best solution for my needs. Admittedly I’m not using them day to day, only for homeowner stuff. I’ll keep the dewalt drill, driver and oscillator in one bag as my quick go kit. I’ll give the Metabo stuff to my son, and I’ll use kobalt. I do like the dewalt oscillator the best, but I feel like all the other tools are a wash. Plus blue is my favorite color haha.

Update: I went to Lowe’s after church to grab the sawzall. The brushless model sells for $130, but they’re running a promotion where you can buy two 4aH batteries with a charger for $150, and get a free tool. For me it’s was an easy choice to spend another $20 and get two batteries with the saw. That bumps me to 5 batteries. I’m satisfied lol.

That same kinda deal is what sold me on Ryobi. It seems every year they have a special at home depot. Buy 2 Ryobi batteries for $99 get a free tool. I actual had a hodge podge,but mostly DeWalt, full DeWalt kit and 2x1/2dr impacts. But DeWalt changed their battery platform. Since the Ryobi batteries are backwards compatible with NiCads(not a hack, its how Ryobi designed the batteries) it was a no brainer to switch to Ryobi. I run 90 percent of my tools on Ryobi batteries now including my DeWalts. And when I see the 5.00 Ryobi whatever tool at a garage sale I grab it,because it still works with the new LiOn batteries eventually I'll have replaced everything with Ryobi,and the Dewalt kit,rigid stuff,Kobalt,etc will be on ebay.

I did a quick search yesterday to see if there were any deals, and it was like @Ricko1966 described, buy batteries, get a free tool. I checked out the deal for Dewalt brand, and was able to get a sawzall as the free tool. Did a store pickup order, and it was waiting in a locker. Had never retrieved an order from the lockers, so I needed some guidance. Pretty slick, enter the code they provided, sign the pad, and the locker door pops open, revealing the prize inside. The batteries were one 20v/5Ah, the other was 20v/2Ah. I'll use the 2Ah with my ratchet and the 5Ah's with the bigger tools. I now have 4) 20v/5Ah and 1) 20v/2AH, and two chargers, an impact, ratchet, and sawzall. I'm good for now, unless I see another deal that is too good to pass up.

I like to think I’m good as well, but I’m tempted to go use that promotion again and get two more batteries and a circular saw. Don’t ask me why, I have a Metabo saw and there is no way I’d ever need seven batteries on any of my projects. But it seems like the thing to do….

Trust me, I am tempted as well. Just not sure which tool I'd add to the collection. Heck, the deal knocked off $229! $199 plus tax for two batteries and a tool is hard to beat.

Lowes has a good Kobalt sale, buy the 4 tool cordless combo and get two free cordless tools.

Slowly replacing all my old 18 volt Dewalt stuff with Kobalt. Lowes always has some good deal around Thanksgiving and Christmas and I got these around that time a couple years ago. $200ish for all this, came with a charger, 1 4ah battery and 1 2ah battery.

Okay today I was helping my son,I handed him an 8mm wrench told him he was going to need to go buy some 5mm nuts to finish installing the mirror on his car. He looked at me and said why are you giving me this(8mm wrench) Because a 5mm fastener uses an 8mm wrench. Now I know a lot of people don't understand the relation ship between fastener size and wrench size. If you used a 10mm wrench it's not a 10mm bolt,it's a 6mm bolt. Anyways I got these charts to make people's lives easier when buying hardware. They have the fastner sizes in relationship to wrench sizes. Not always 100% bit it's 90%

My over twenty year old Panasonic (14.4) drill motor died (a set (impact and drill)). Of all the cordless tools I own[ed], it was my favorite. Even up against my 20 volt Dewalts, or my Makitas. However, just the drill would have been around six hundred to replace, so. . . . (the neighbor kid got a nice Panasonic impact and charger).

My Dewalts get the job done for things impact and drill, but saws, not so much. That old Panasonic performed better than both the Dewalts and the Makita's. The latter which are heavy by comparison, and the batteries no better (and all but worthless on the little circular saw).

I guess competition isn't always a good thing. It appears to be so fierce the bean counters have their engineers cutting corners to compete, primarily, price wise.

My older Dewalt corded compound miter is as good as any 10" miter around. Sometimes I like it better than my Bosch.

Then there is that my hardwood supplier dumped his "top of the line" Festool, because it couldn't handle the work expected of it. He replaced it with a Hitachi and has never looked back.

All of my several Milwaukee's are corded, so I cannot say much, as to their quality and performance, aside than that my buddy's shop is riddled with them and he won't switch to anything else.

On the matter of the Metabo world of tools, I'm a fan.

I am thinking about ripping the battery pack of my old Dewalt drill apart and installing new batteries of a higher rating. Of every drill, it had my favorite tool-less chuck.

Cool, DoubleDingo. Is it a cordless. If so, what voltage?

The ONLY problem I've had with my cordless being used on saws (circular or reciprocating) is, run time. Power doesn't seem an issue.
