Swapped a th400 from an 87 Suburban t.b.i. into a 79. I sold the t.b.i. system and bought a carb. My question is now that the solenoid isnt going to downshift the trans off of the relay and e.c.m. , how do I go about wiring it up to allow the trans to downshift?

Add a switch and orange wire to your gas pedal mechanism. Not certain if 87 still had he bracket or not, but take a look. Here's a pic. If you're throttle linkage behind the firewall doesn't look like this, you might have to swap your gas pedal bracket too.
