Been doing a little research, not getting serious about it yet..future planning lol.
Anyways, my grandpas 79, th350/np203. I want to keep the th350 that it has in it, but my research says that's not happening without changing the output shaft on the trans, as long as I'm reading correctly lol. As far as I've read and what I know the 350/203 combo has the thinnest adapter plate, therefore shortest output shaft, unlike all the other transmissions. Also in my searches I believe I saw that th350/np208 combos were only available 2 years? If so, that's not an option, unless that output shaft is readily available/compatible and will work with a 700r4/208 adapter as the 350/208 would be impossible.
Spline count is the same! Another option is a 2wd th350 and cutting the output shaft down because it's a little bit too long. Or I rebuild the 350 I have but with a 2wd output shaft and cut it, or maybe there's a correct length shaft?
Even on that note, I couldn't even swap a 205 behind it either correct? It's basically 203 or rebuild it, the way I'm seeing it...
Im opting for the 208 because I want 2wd and its light and available as well as parts, and this truck will just be a cruiser, fun truck. I also wanted to keep the trans as it's perfectly fine.
