Hi,
This question concerning assembly of input shaft and forward clutch drum on my TH350, because I had to change the forward clutch drum and put back the input shaft, what are the tolerances in reinserting the shaft in the drum ? any influence on front end play ? (see attached file)

So what that is saying, is press the shaft in to where its .010 - .012 below the highest point on the drum. I've never even measured that. I just put it in and make sure its sticking above and maybe a hair below, which is likely about .010 I guess. I've never had a problem with end play doing it that way. Most important is to make sure its not out past the drum or you're likley to have a grinding problem until it eats enough of the shaft away and run the shavings throughout the trans and wedge valves stuck.

Not sure I got it all; in my case, the shaft in to where its .010 - .012 above the highest point on the drum, so not good ?

I've always put it below instead of above. But your diagram doesn't specify under or above. It just says within .010 - .012. so you're probably OK. .010 is not much and you can likley make that up in your end play. Just hope its not to tight or you'll wish it was flush or below instead of above.
