Tailgate questions

Will any tailgate fit any year truck? for example a 85 tailgate on a 75

there are differences but I am not sure what they are

has to do with the latches I think

I have swapped tail gates around but I don't remember what way I went

I guess that when I find a donor I will take the strikers, latches and hinges to be sure.

I need the whole thing this one is bent real bad and will not close easily and if I can get it to close good luck getting it open

I could not fit my earlier tailgate onto my later box; had to get a later tailgate.

Sometimes it's as simple are changing the rubber bumpers, other times not so simple.
