Suggestions for headers, exhaust and beyond?

I'm seriously considering doing some engine work on "The Massive". I going to do a compression check to see the general conditions of the valves and such. From there I'll should have an idea of what's really needed. I know it could use a new rear main seal sooner than later. Anyway, after chatting with my mechanic buddy, I'm thinking of headers, removal of the smog stuff, then Dynomax or Flowmaster exhaust. K&N air filter too. Has anyone done this on theirs? Btw, it's an 1989 Suburban (2/4 ton) w/454. Other suggestions?
