So I have a dual cassette player I think, I found it on crutch field a few years ago because my 8 track finally quit working after 30 some years. It only has two speaker outputs, but it also has preamp? Outputs for subs. At least I think that's what they're called. I also have an 800 watt amp and two 10" truck boxes laying around, so all I would need to put them in is a couple of 10's and a wiring kit. But would it be worth the time and money to do it? Or should I just post my stuff on craigslist and see if I can trade it for a rim so I actually have a full set. I just don't know if it would be worth it. Oh and it does have an auxiliary input so the music would come from my iPod, not a cassette.

Pre-amps from the radio to the amp then to the subs should work. How are the other speakers being driven?

They're hooked directly to the radio, its just a pair of 8" mtx road thunders laying in the back of the cab. Nothing special.

So you are using the amplified section of the radio to supply the rest of the speakers. Does the deck have pre-amps specifically marked for subs?

It has a set of red and white AV style plug ins, I assume they are marked for subs, its been several years since I installed it. Is there anything else besides subs that would use that style of connection?

you can use them to drive an amp for regular speakers. But it works for subs to, just adjust your frequency on your amp if you can so it only picks up the lows.

As mentioned above the pre-amps can be used for either. I have seen some decks that have special sub outputs. Those would have the filter built in the deck to allow only certain frequencies to the sub.

The one in my cavalier is that way, theres 3 sets of RCA's, 1 pre amp, 1 sub pre-amp, and one aux in.

A buddy of mine has one with 2 pre-amps, and 1 sub pre-amp.

I think I'm going to try it eventually, I haven't had any luck selling this stuff so I might as well use it.

Heck I might just see if I can rig a bracket up under my dash for my CD player. I'm not cutting my dash up.
