I had to replace my u joints in my rear driveshaft (82 k10). Didn’t think about it but I forget which end goes to the transmission and which end goes to the axle. One end is a bit tapered. Does that end go to the transmission?

In my experience tapered end towards the front. Use chalk/paint to mark the yoke clocking and direction of the driveshaft before removing it. Same for the slip joint it applicable.
