Stock trans in my truck?

I have an 82 C20 And have some questions about the transmission.

It's got overdrive and a buddy of my fathers who was a Mechanic for the local Chevy dealership told me it would have been a 700R4. However, I thought those transmissions didnt come in The 3/4 Ton trucks?

Anyone have any knowledge on this?

I didn't know you could get a 700r4 in anything other than half tons

so it was an option from 82-up for k10 and k20 what about k30?

Wouldn't hold up to a K30. Just 10 and 20.

Started the truck up to move it today, and discovered my trans is pretty much finished. It slips like hell and wont pull itself in reverse unless you get it up to about half throttle... and even then no matter how much gas i give it, it will only pull on level ground. Good thing im not using it anyway.. I'm starting getting the K20 frame all cleaned up and ready for the body to go on and its getting a Turbo 400
