The steering columb in the 85 just seems to stick way out at me. Is there anyway to shorten the distance inbetween myself and the wheel?

I think the column is clamped to the mounting brackets and you can slide it forward if you loosen the clamps?

Is it a non-tilt column? The tilt columns seem to be a little shorter.

I saw a thread on another site, a guy modded a S10 steering column and put it in his square. Its like 3 or 4 inchs shorter.

Yes it is a Tilt columb, I dont think you can get more then a 1/2" movement on the clamp that holds it to the dash.
