On my original, 1987, 3 on the tree column, there was a sensor near the bottom of the column (2 wires going to it). Now my used, 1987, 4 speed manual, column, does NOT have it. Does anyone know what it is? Can I just bypass it or leave it unplugged??

The top column is the original and the sensor is near the firewall cover.

Back-up light switch, as I recall.

The manual trans manufacturer (Tremec?) probably sells a switch kit. You'll just have to run the wires to it.

I learn something new every day. I didn't know a 3-speed manual trans was still offered in 1987.
