hoping someone can help me out.... i got a 85 k20 6.2 and 400 trans... on the slip yoke for the rear drive shaft how long is it??

I'm wanting to say at least 7 inches. What are you trying to figure out? The output shaft on the np208 sticks out past the seal, so that needs to be figured in if you're measuring for a new shaft.

well i put a 6 inch lift on and kinda being lazy... didnt wanna pull the shaft out to see how much is making contact. but may be better off actually pulling it... and checking my front shaft also

You should be OK. You should also be able to see where the seal used to ride on the shaft and tell how far it pulled out after the lift. An inch or so is just fine, but about 2 inches or more I'd look at having the shaft lengthened. Mine came out about 2 inches and I didn't like that very much, but it's been fine like that for years.

yea shes out about two inches.. :( so i think this weekend ill have to pull both shafts and check lengths. i was hoping not to do this until i swap the cummins in but it aint looking good for the old girl. btw thank you for your help

Jack the bumper off the ground so the rear axle is hanging with no weight on it, then grab the driveshaft and give it a shake. If it seems really wobbly it probably only has 2" or less of engagement. If it comes out, well, no input from me required. You're ****** lol.

lol ill try it. pretty sure one of these days im gunna get my ass reamed for working on my trucks and **** in the barracks parking lot
