'88 R10 Scottsdale Suburban (TBI) has a pretty noticeable skip when in overdrive and engine under load ie going up a grade. If I give it a lil gas so it will down shift, no skipping. Any ideas?

Likely either ignition or lockup clutch

The torque converter clutch in my Caprice was doing this. Get it out of fourth, and it got much better. It could cruise along okay, but increase the load, increase the shuddering, bucking, and chattering. I put three bottles of Dr. Tranny Instant Shudder Fixx in there, and it pretty much fixed the problem.

I would look at the distributor cap and rotor. These are known for moisture getting in them. Had the same issue with mine. Only did it in od.

Thanks everyone
Cap and rotor seems like the easiest to check. I'll try that first, then clutch.

My truck was cutting out causing it to stumble and spit only while in OD, fixed an exhaust leak at the block/manifold and it stopped doing it.
