Hey all,
Have a 88 Chevy Burb 2500 Silverado trim option, 350 engine.

Runs great but recently has been shutting down on me at stops or when I excellrate after at a stop. Runs fine on the freeway. Looked up possible fixtures and so far, fuel filter change, coolant temp sensor change, iAC sensor change, and ICM sensor change.

Please share thoughts on possible issues and fix. Much appreciated!

P.S. Before you say it, yes I’m dropped it.

Shuts off instantly. Usually when I hit the gas to accelerate. Turns right back on when I crank it to start. Starting to think it may be the fuel pump?

shuts off instantly seems more like ignition than sputtering from lack of fuel to me? might spray some soapy water around the distributor cap while it is idling and coil see if there is some electricity leaking out and zapping something ECM related. listen for crackling or watch for blue sparks.

Yeah, I’m a little annoyed at this point. Swapped out the fuel filter, coolant temp sensor, & IAC. ICM is next.

I did notice this happens when I engine gets to a 200 temp. That’s when it’s starts the shutting down issue.

I wonder if its a throttle position sensor that needs a relearn or replacement. (I was seeing a listing for 350ci TBI cars for that,...but not sure if the same for trucks.)

alternatively something electrical....like the alternator is not putting out enough when it warms, or a ground that is crapping out due to heat.

but just spitballing,... its not fun to try to keep your foot in the gas, kick to neutral, and brake with your left foot. just tying to keep the revs up to keep going. (a plain old working handbrake would be a nice thing).
