Hopefully this is the new to me DD, just picked it up yesterday in central Texas and drove it 134 miles back home. 2000(OBS/400 carryover model) Chevy LS C2500 Crew Cab shortbed, 5.7and 4L80E. This was taken right after we got home, Caprice is my neighbor's. Looks a lot like my big truck, but shorter and not quite the same color.

My brother in law's old '74 used to have the fuel pump fail several times a year. Iirc, the pin would come out of the lever or something. It's been too long, I don't exactly remember.
That had happened in the past when it was @Catbox car still, this pump actually has e-clips on both sides to keep that from happening.
Think this time the diaphragm just said "Nah, I'm tired of this".

That is just a VW doing VW things....

Here the pin came out of the fuel pump, but it still functioned well enough I was able to drive it the 20 miles home in traffic.

On the new pump, I peened that pin in place and epoxied over both sides as well for good measure.

Broke down in downtown Portland once.
The fuel tank became plugged. I pulled the feed line and blew through it backwards until it made bubbles in the tank.
Easy peasy fix on a bridge.

I told them what I was driving when they sent out a giant truck for me.
But it worked on the morning that my throttle cable decided to snap the end off the first time.

About 10 months later it snapped the end off the stock replacement throttle cable at the same place on the way home from work.
I then found a much better bolt on throttle cable that has served us quite well in the last 10 years.

The throttle cables and clutch cables will leave you stranded every once in a while.
I learned to carry a spare of each, just in case.
I could change the clutch cable pretty quick in a parking lot if I had too.

I learned to drive with them broken. You wire zip tie screw the the throttle stop in whatever you have to do to get them to idle around 2500 rpm slip the clutch to take off change gears to change speed. Clutch you crank it in gear to take off from a dead stop rev match your upshifts and down shifts.

I remember replacing" a throttle cable one time with a section of barb wire fencing. Got home with a rock wrapped in a rag stuffed in a hole in the transmission another time. Also had a front spindle snap and lose a front wheel on my Karman Ghia ( thats when I learned about setting wheel bearing tolerances .. )
Used to drive around in my '55 with a tool box wedged behind one seat, and a box of parts behind the other .. awesome cars !..

Picked this up resently, been my back up daily, since my caprice is down.
2003 Yukon XL, 2500.
Has the monster 8.1L big block in it. 3/4, 4x4, towing package. Things a beast. Hauls ass, tows great. Can't outrun its gas gauge though, haha. So comfy though, rides like a caddy.
Its loaded, was fully optioned out when new.
Has 4 TVs, a DVD player, a VHS player, a 10 CD changer, a woofer, amp, hookups for a gaming system, inverter, moon roof, everything. Guy i got it from, bought it from a guy in Beverly Hills. Supposedly, that guy said it was used in background of 2 movies as a secret service and FBI rig. Thats what i was told, have no proof, but its possible.
Officially the nicest thing i own.

Guy was moving, had too many cars, and hated the mileage, had to get rid of it. I stole it for $1500.

When it reached 400,000 miles deep in the desert. Also the crate engine installed in 2008 hit 75,000 at that moment...
