why is all this stuff different and popping up?

if the truck had a th350 and t-case, and you reused the same t-case, since it would fit, same spline counts, unless you got a 32 spline 700r4, and then that uses the same mount and all.

Only downside would be the th350 being a bit shorter as mentioned.

I replaced the 700r4 in my truck with a th350 spacer plate between the t-case adapter and trans and it all bolted up perfectly, factory holes and location of the crossmember, same crossmember, same t-case, same mount.

Because you used a spacer and it all ended up the same length. Going the other way, you can't make a 700r4 shorter.

Also there is 2 different Th350 crossmembers, one requires Tall Tcase Adapter, one short. If you have the early tall adapter, then to use a 700r4 you'd need to get the laters Th350 crossmember that used the short adapter.
