Hey all,
I have a 79 c10 single cab long bed 2wd that I'm swapping an ls with an sm465. The question I have is what size drive shaft do I need to do this swap? I know I need a 2 piece with carrier bearing, I just need to know length or if someone has one that fits. Also, the engine mounts are adjustable. Thanks guys.

I know a guy that can make it for ya.

All you have to do is buy one that know to be too long, and then tell him what length you need.

He charges $100 to shorten and balance it.

You would probably have to ship it though.

It's all going to depend on where you place the engine and if your 465 is what came in the truck. Are you swapping in the engine AND the trans, or just the engine?

Engine and trans but the LS is on dirty dingo moving mounts, so I have some room to play with.

Like @bucket said, it will depend on where the engine sits once installed.

What transmission was in the truck before?

Also you should push the engine as close to the firewall as reasonably possible, approximately where the rear of classic SBC or 6 Cyl would be. That will put the transmission and shifter in the same spot as if it were stock.

Ok. I see where you are coming from. The original trans was a th350. The original engine was the inline 6, then someone swapped a sbc.
