Hey guys,

I have an '83 GMC K1500 pickup that had the A/C system converted to R134a refrigerant sometime before I bought it. It uses different mounting brackets for the compressor that uses the factory driver-side header as a mounting point.

Can anyone tell me how to go to aftermarket headers and retain this A/C set-up?

use a spacer or washers with a stud or the original bolt to make up for the lost thickness of the cast exhaust manifold

I see what you mean, if the bracket will clear the new header I'll make something to make up the gap and firm it up. If the tubular header doesn't clear the bracket I'll have to cut off the part of the bracket where the second bolt goes through though. Thanks dudes.
