ProFlo 4 O2 Location

Quick question: the ProFlo4 EFI setup says to put a bung in the passenger side header collector. WELL.....some dumbarse that wears my pants and looks alot like me, mounted the headers, routed plug wires, etc all up and forgot to do just that. Would the world end if I placed the bung in the adapter pipe a mere few inches from the collector? I could swear I've seen adapters come with the bung in them at that location.

Probably a stupid question but one that would typically bite me if I dont at least appear to be worried.

It will be just fine mounted in the collector reducer.

From my understanding, the O2 sensor reacts to the oxygen in the exhaust. The more oxygen there is, the more electricity the sensor produces, and the computer uses that value to calculate the rich/lean figures. However, the sensor only works when its very hot. So if you get too far away from the heat source, then it wont work properly. A few inches one direction should not make any difference. I would think that even a few feet would not make much difference. Newer rigs have a heater element built into the sensor, so that they heat up faster to increase the engine efficiency during the engine warm up period.
