Quick question: the ProFlo4 EFI setup says to put a bung in the passenger side header collector. WELL.....some dumbarse that wears my pants and looks alot like me, mounted the headers, routed plug wires, etc all up and forgot to do just that. Would the world end if I placed the bung in the adapter pipe a mere few inches from the collector? I could swear I've seen adapters come with the bung in them at that location.

Probably a stupid question but one that would typically bite me if I dont at least appear to be worried.

Thx.

From my understanding, the O2 sensor reacts to the oxygen in the exhaust. The more oxygen there is, the more electricity the sensor produces, and the computer uses that value to calculate the rich/lean figures. However, the sensor only works when its very hot. So if you get too far away from the heat source, then it wont work properly. A few inches one direction should not make any difference. I would think that even a few feet would not make much difference. Newer rigs have a heater element built into the sensor, so that they heat up faster to increase the engine efficiency during the engine warm up period.

Is it a heated sensor?

Wide band sensors should be 6-10" from where all the pipes converge into 1, with minimum 18" of pipe behind it.

I've seen header collector reducers with the bungs already welded into them, so as long as the gaskets seal good I don't see an issue.

As already asked, does it use a heated sensor?

Unheated sensors (usually only three wires) have to be close to the header collector so they get hot enough. Heated sensors (5 wire, etc) have a separate heating element, so they can usually be just about anywhere in the exhaust.

Most if not all 3 wire oxygen sensors would be an easy fit in this application. The 2 white wires are power and ground.Black wire is O2 signal case is O2 ground.

Collector reducer is where I typically install the O2 sensors. Just make sure you don't have any leaks at that interface between the header and reducer.
