I had a small block that slowly lost power once. It was a cam and timing chain issue

A correction on the carburetor. It's more likely a 1-barrel Rochester Monojet. The truck performance is getting worse by the day. Many years ago, I has an inline fuel filter installed. It wouldn't surprise me to discover that both fuel filters need to be replaced.

Following up about this matter, the problem turned out to be the transmission (TH350) — hesitation after shifting into third gear. I had the transmission rebuilt.
