Thats easy to figure out just divide 41 by 11 thatll tell you the ratio
41/11=3.727272727272 or in other words 3.73

Yep and 41/10 is 4.10's and 41/9 is 4.56's , 41/12 is 3.42's So make sure you counted that pinion right, or it's marked on the ring gear.

Now don't go thinking cuz the ring has the same # of teeth, the ring gear are interchangable. NO they are not, the gear teeth are cut different at a different pitch to match the pinion. It just works out that way that 41 teeth on the ring is more common.

Prolly a G80 Gov Lok. Not the best as far as strength, but they do work well at low speeds, like pulling a boat up a wet boat ramp, or getting up a snow covered driveway.

Either your 2-4 Band is worn out, or slight possibility of Servo Seals which is not likely and uncommon, or Broken Sunshell. Sounds like the same Problem as Jim's Burb too. It's either the 2-4 Band or the Sunshell is broke. If Reverse was jacked up, then we'd know it was the SunShell.

I guess you didn't get to test drive it? But was told it was all good to go and drove fine?

Obviously drove it in 4x4 due to the rear end being broke, so he drove it for 6 months on the front axle. What a douche. I wonder if he quit driving it cuz the trans took a dump.

He stopped driving it cus he got a DUI and got it impounded could driving in 4x4 screw the transmission up or doing a bunch of burnouts or driving with 22s-24s rims on it mess it up cus it has a 3 inch body lift with 6x9 speakers in the grill like some **** owned it

All of the above can take it's toll. And it's still very possible he drove it with a bad trans. If the guy was desperate enough to drive it 6 months in 4x4 for the Front Wheel Drive cuz the Rear end was blown, that tells you he didn't have $100-$200 for a rear end. So as long as it still has 1st, 3rd and Reverse, then it still runs, lets roll. Now he goes to jail for DUI, that tells where his priorities are. And he didn't feel it was worth $200-$300 to pick it up out of impound, he didn't think it was worth much for some reason.

So did the tow yard find a receipt in the glove box or something???

A year can be a long time on a 700r4. And it was obviously abused by the sounds of the rear end issue, DUI and body damage.
