Well my truck has an 83 2wd cab on a newer model frame it looks like. When I go to lmctruck I see 83 and older is one style parking brake setup and the 84 and newer is another style. Can I just get all the 84 and newer stuff and make it work, or get all the 83 and older stuff? I figure the only thing that matters is the end for the brake pedal and I figure that's maybe the same.

What parts do you have for the cables now? I'm swapping to the 84+ setup on my 78. I have all the parts but haven't installed them yet. From what I've found the pedal assembly is the same for all squares so if you swap the cable on your pedal to the 84+ one an you have all the other 84+ parts you should be good to go.

+2 Installed a '86 rear on a '83 square. Removed the '86 rearmost cable set and installed '83 rearmost cables to make it compatible with rest of the '83 truck. A 100% 84+ cable set should work out fine.

thanks guys honestly I'm retty sure the frame has 84 newer stuff, but mostly brackets, and the cab has the partial front cable from the pedal, most of it has been cut. I figured I could just get all cables and parts from either setup and make it work. Looks like alot less stuff for 84 and up setup

I would do the 84+ really. It gets the cables out of the way of the underside of the truck. It's a better setup I think.
