I have a 1980 C10 and I just installed a new transmission crossmember with the "W" so when I run my exhaust it will be tight to allow for ground clearance. The issue I have is that the parking brake line crosses over just aft of the crossmember and it will be right in the way of the exhaust where it passes under the transmission crossmember. Does anyone have info on rerouting the brake cables? It seems simple enough but if anyone has previously done this pictures and info would be helpful. I would like to keep the parking brake and not cut the cables. Thank you.

GM changed the design of the parking brake cabling over the years.

My ‘75 uses a single cable that is routed as an upside down U shape, with the legs of the U connected to each brake drum.
On the drivers side it is pulled into the corner by the emergency brake pedal cable, and on the passenger side there is a heavy metal rod/bracket that keeps the corner of the U shape, but allows the cable to slide. The cross over at the top slides across the exhaust, but does not interfere.

The newer cables have a single run going back to the rear spring hanger along the drivers side frame rail and come together in there somewhere and split at the hanger. Instead of spread out under the truck.

My 85 cables and exhaust touch with the dual exhaust. I just left them.
