Black is good IF the wheelwells are too.
I would body color in a heartbeat, i've done both and honestly, black isn't "good enough" for me anymore, I want my engine bays to POP!

Like POW!

uknowwhatimsayin?

:imo: body color is the way to go.

I offer one piece of advice.

It's a reeeaaaallllllly good one though....okay?

Seriously.

Real talk here...

This a real solid now,

When needed use semi-gloss black , trust me. ;)

My engine bay is factory. Firewall is body color and inner fenders are black. Unsure if they were changed by PO because he did change both front fenders after a deer hit so....

I always use semi gloss black as well, flat black doesn't look very good after a month or so.

Painted my whole Engine bay in a satin black when I rebuilt the engine. Glossy paint tends to show too many flaws. So unless you've got a lot of time invested in smoothing and sanding and prepping, keep the gloss down and it will look clean and uniform. just my $.02

Gotta love the all black engine bay, it makes the motor standout and reckon youve spent enough money so it doesn't look..."cheap". Knowwhatimsayin? - not everyone pulls it off as well as that.
Black is more utility-lookin :imo:

Ill look for a pix of the SS maybe. Its all utility racecar black bay.
If I ever had to play with febderwells I sure as hell would paint em body color.

MY 2 cents is I've always felt if a GM truck had the engine compartment painted black it cheapened the truck. I feel it should be body color as built

My firewall was painted the body color, but for me, too much work keeping it clean driving everyday. So I sprayed undercoating on it and painted it and the inner fender wells and everything else but the inside of the fenders rattle can satin black. Also used chromed body bolts and rattle can aluminum on the springs.

Edit...if I was doing a restore, myself, I would go with the body color.
Did you say "daily driver?!"
