Totally. Agreed. Besides, anyone who’d “upgrade” to an OE TBI or TPI still listens to too much Motley Crue, probably has 2-3 broke down Camaros in their front yard and has a can of aerosol hair spray on their vanity… unless they’re bald!
good thread here, my 86 is in original condition with surprisingly little rust, and my only goal is to make it more so :
(round of maint, change all fluids, replace any missing trim, give it a whole paint job,.
with a 1986 350 / 3speed its never going to be "fast",
adequate is OK for such a heavy pig, on OEM 16" steel wheels and original size brakes. ...this is a great forum with discussion of fixing / swapping broken, rusted, stupid crap though. its not even a daily driver to put 2008 style 17" rims for 2008 big brakes on...."go slow, brake early, and gear down if swearing + praying"), ....so just like a early 2000s 5.3 with a 4EAT on 16" rims, its not about zero to 100mph, its about stopping and living without kiling anyone.
...and well. motley crue still plays on my 1986's original tape deck.
(it was one of the first tapes out of a old shoe box to test it,...without digging for Foreigner, Bad Company,...or Tesla).
its got a bench seat, in mint condition with a period correct cover on it,
...so now all I need is a 50 plus year old broad, with or without teeth. we are all turning into museum pieces. (still breathing not in the junk yard/ crusher yet).
I am not inclinded to keep it forever. some 65 year old couple with a squareback vette, and a new vette "need" this to relive glory days listing to bruce springstein while going to the post office. (squarebodies poke out and about this time of year,...like old broads in tanktops). ....it needs one of those plastic 80s kind of consol cup holders, to hold a empty cup for false teeth.
