My vintage 1980's Pioneer AM/FM Cassette has finally developed issues.

As I have two GM AM/FM Cassette units sitting on my shelf, I would like to install one of those.
Both units have the original correctors, with 6 inches of the original wiring harness, still attached.

When I review the wiring diagram, for my '80 K5, i notice that every one of the stereo units, shows a crossover between the head unit and the speakers.

It is difficult to make out the p/n on the online schematic, but I believe that it starts with 1600.

Nothing in my original parts manual nor in the illustrated parts manual makes any reference to this.

Online searches turn up nothing.

Can someone shed some light on this?

Can you post this schematic up? I've installed lots of factory gm car stereo and aftermarket stereos into GMs and have never run across a factory cross over. So I'm very interested in seeing this. On a different note. What's up with the pioneer unit. Possibly interested in buying it from you.

Sorry, but the Pioneer is going on for repair.
The circuits are just old.
It is a KE-5000 and I bought it in '82 when the cassette part on my KP-8005 packed it on our our return trip from BC... That made for some quiet miles through northern Ontario. :)

I don't see crossovers just the wires and connectors. As for the Pioneer good luck with it, I don't know them buy model number, just looking for certain look 2 knob super tuner or maybe an Alpine for my 80s era 1966 Chevelle build. Something that looks like it belonged in a high school kids Chevelle.

The crossover is the rectangle above the stereo connector.
The stereo connector, which plugs into the back of the radio/stereo is actually 3 plugs, one for power, one for the front speakers and one for the rear speakers.
As my K5 originally only came with an AM radio, it only has two plugs.
I sill have the original AM radio and, if there were still a selection of stations on AM, I would just install that.

So I have this I'll never do anything with. Started eating tapes, then lost a channel. If you're interested. I'll look for the knobs. 3 each stem, 1 dummy. RCA pre-amp out.
