only Front Brakes Skid in a dirt parking lot

Hi All
Testing my brakes on a 89 Burb with newish calipers, hoses and brake pads 6000 miles ago, felt like trying to see if my rear brakes would lock up during a power stop in a dirt parking lot, Nope only the front. Stops straight, Rear Brake Shoes look good, Drums may need new probably original at 197,000 miles Did not see a adjuster hole in the drums?

Drive up a mountain. Brake on the way down the mountain. Touch the rear brakes with your hand. Apply burn cream.

If they are hot, they are working - at least to some "degree".

1st degree, 2nd degree, 3rd degree burn will tell you how well they are working.

From what I've heard/read, you don't want your rears to lock up because the rear of the vehicle gets squirrely. If it stops well, straight and quickly I'd say you don't have a problem.
Your adjuster hole should be on the backing plate, not the drum.

Not sure on an 89 , but on Goldie (1980) the OP is right - the adjustment hole is a knock out plug on the drum. Aftermarket ones don't seem to have it ...

Also, being an 89, could it have RWAL ?

You mean a ko on the backing plate?
89 does have rear anti lock pretty sure but you’d feel it in the pedal.

No, a plug on the drum. Dodges in the late 70s had a hole in the backing plate but GM did not in my experience. Makes adjusting the shoes more difficult.
