So I bought my truck non-running, yet I knew it ran in the months before, because I saw it driving around town. The younger guy I bought it from said one day while driving, it just quit, and would never start after.

Once I got it, it did not take long to find the hot wire from the starter up to the junction block, had got hot, fried off the insulation till it was a bare wire, and evidently found itself getting a hard ground-out, which fried all of the fusible links.

I replaced all bad wiring I could find, fusable links etc....and once again it is firing up and running great. PROBLEM is there is still no oil pressure on the guage or coolant temp. Alternator amps, etc all read great......my question is, is there a common denominator for oil pressure and coolant temp ??

The fella I bought it from, said that before it "died", that all guages read perfectly. Is it possible the guage backpanel now has an "open" ? Has anybody had an issue like this before, where these two happen at the same time ??

Have you grounded the wire to the oil pressure switch andbthe wire to the temp sender to see if the gauges read then?

Also check the gauge panel ground. It’s a black wire grounded to a post on the emergency brake mechanism.

Gauge panel wiring uses a large, wide plug that has all the wiring connectors. If PO was troubleshooting up under the dash he may have moved the wiring around and partially disconnected that plug.
