So I grabbed the wrong oil filter today. I normally run WIX 51061 but grabbed 51060. I put it on and it tightened up fine, so I didn't even realize it until I grabbed the box to throw it away. I did a quick search on Google and it showed a different thread pattern which had me confused because it screwed on just fine. I had started the truck and let it idle for about 5 minutes and no leaks. I am assuming I should pull that filter off and get a 51061, but I feel like if this one was a completely different thread pattern it would not have easily screwed on and would have been leaking???? I also assume there is no trick to getting this filter off and a new one on without loosing quite a bit of my new oil?

I would think that running the wrong filter would probably be OK, but I would take it off and put the proper one on.

You are fine leave it on. Many prefer the 51060
Has nothing to do with thread pattern

The 51060 has the anti drain back the 51061 doesnt.
