So this bushing and the rear most support bearing would take the brunt of the wear if there was an excessive runout condition at the yoke?

As long as the 1” creep to get it to change doesn’t get worse I’m not as concerned with that now. Mostly want to solve this vibration issue.

The yoke would be supported by the bushing more so than the shaft, so yes.

Gear Vendors instructions for shortening the driveshaft want the yoke extended 1/2"-5/8" from bottomed. If you have a lift kit etc you might go a little longer depending on the arc of driveshaft travel.

The press makes life almost too easy.

You guys just use some generic waterproof grease in the speedo gear thingy?

I wouldn't confuse yoke length with driveshaft length.
I'm of the (opinion) that you need a longer driveshaft.

It’s at the driveshaft shop right now getting two inches added. Picking it up on my way home from work. New bushing and output shaft bearing will hopefully be the end of it.

The skf option from Napa was made in Malaysia and the timken was made in Korea. So I went with the Koyo NTN made in Japan.

Got my driveshaft today. At home installing new bearing, bushing and seal. The bushing slides in way to easy IMO. I had to press the other one out. Albeit didn’t take much force, but it didn’t just slide out. Does this look correct? Grease is atf assembly goo.

I'd be looking for some Loctite if I were you.

I just mic’d the new bushing vs old after wiping the assembly lube off. With tailhousing and bushing dry, the new one falls through.

The old worn out bushing mic’s at .007

The new bushing ID is correct but OD is too small. It’s thickness is .0055

Maybe a year to year difference?

Old bushing p/n is F-23

New bushing p/n is RP775 CZ

I would be looking for a different bushing. After bushing is replaced it is also might be necessary to hone it for yoke to fit nicely

Found the parts at a local transmission shop. I’m going to use them to either rebuild my th400 or a 4l80e.

I couldn’t help myself and picked up another torque converter from D&P Torque Converter. These guys are recommended by everyone in town and again confirmed that Hughes performance is junk. I’m returning my $310 Hughes converter and installing my $130 torque converter.
