I have the NAPA 3123 spin on fuel filter. Just replaced it and now the truck won’t start. How do I bleed the air out of the system and prime it? There is a nipple on the bottom of the fuel filter.

I read a few threads but don’t have an air compressor or hand pump.

The spin on isn't the original filter on an '86 so I have no idea what your configuration looks like. You can try to pre-fill the filter before you install it. That will help. Other than that you'll need to vent the fuel line coming out of the filter or going into the injection pump and crank the engine.

Got it figured out! Lifted the back of the truck up higher than the front and filled the filter all the way up to the top and after a few cranking cycles it fired up and ran a bit rough but then smoothed out and now all is well! Thanks.

All the older diesels we used to change fuel filters on we filled with ATF to help prime and start
