Need help as usual. 15 year olds restoration project. Power windows worked prior to sandblasting. Now as we are putting truck back together no power windows. It is a ‘76 we bought with the PW already installed. I checked, all fuses are go, switched power to other ignition related items is good just nothing to any of the points on the connector in the drivers door. Read here I think Blue is power, but I get nothing when I test it. Any help appreciated. My son wants crank windows anyway, but if I can get these going again I can deal with that another day.

Thanks

Randy and Easton

Figured it out. Made jumpers and have glass moving. I’m slow but sometimes lucky.

Hey randy if you guys are doing a lot of work on it, you may appreciate changing it to use relays and then speed them up and keep the switches healthy :)

also if you need to tap for small accessories
You must be registered for see images attach

I bought a bag with 100 in them and they cost 6$ for the bag LOL
I would part if you needed a few. You say 15 year old ,im assuming you guys are getting that back to nice and its to teach him and etc? If hes gonna be using it there is a decent chance more interior things may be wanted lol

Taylor, yes. Easton (we call him E) is an old soul. No video games, Andy Griffith refunds, Gomez Pyle. Been mechanical since he was young. Saved up 9K (no fooling) dumpster diving for old lawnmowers, he haul them home fix them up and sell on Craigslist. When he was 14 Feb ‘21 he bought this 1976 C10 for 4K. Over the winter we cleaned up the motor (cam up) HEI and thought that was it, maybe some interior work and he comes to me and says he wants to paint it white! I said if I would have known you wanted a white truck we would have bought one. Anyway here we are now! Home stretch. He sandblasted it himself, primed it, bondo, fiberglass , welded floor and cab, new body mounts.. the list goes on and on. Painted it white pearl, over Christmas and now we are on home stretch getting it back together. Bout to rework electrical system ( he wants to pay someone to do kwick wire) and get a rebuilt column in it and then it’s vintage air and the interior. All this on his dime ( mom and dad have some hidden skin in the game but he is floating the big cash)
The truck is not perfect, but it’s “our story” and he is proud. He has learned a lot along the way and pushed himself to not quit just because it’s hard or someone says you can’t do it.

This forum has been so helpful, just wish we would have found it sooner!

whats the tool box gonna get done to it? we also have the same toolbox, mines in my f150

Also, how is his welding overall? Stick or wire feed? If he can work on the welding reliably for the next few years, he can seriously set himself up for cash-city and probably free ride or at least scholarship/paid for by the employer, schools, etc to go and get into welding. its not the same harm as it was back in the day with PPE, ventilation, safety things that people like my gpa didnt have
plus its soo much money and if it came naturally and he had it under control as a young teen, that springboards you a lot further than say myself(welded 2 times in same day back in 2014 lol)

He did both. Line on the floor, stick on the cab gutter rail holes. He did not want the rain gutter so he used stick to fill those. We have not done any real long bead welds, I’m just a shade tree on most of this from my shop days in South Carolina. You are not the first to try and steer him toward welding since we started this project. We plant the seed and see what grows!
His baseball coach gave him that old box. He re riveted the hinge, put in a new lock and new struts and Tuesday he is going to sandblast it then Raptor line if to match bed.

Oh awesome. Pro tip if you store fluids in the box, may be wise to make a raised "bottom" with something like bar mat that allows the surface to sit atop something that fluids can fall into. dont ask how I found this out lol.

Had a gallon of ATF that had about 1.5 quart maybe left in it, Well I had one of those nail sticks for cleaning garbage in the box and one day there must have been an impaling because I had an ATF floor and ratchet straps, cardboard etc got pleasantly impregnated.

Also, I got my box from my dad, had 2 screw holes in the top(No idea why, they werent spaced close or squared to anything, its still missing a lock, but i had to unkink the rod that opens both sides with one handle. Mine looks like that otherwise lol. Id like to install some lighting inside, a cool upgrade for that and a pickup box he may himself want to do some day :)
